Artist Statement: " My art is RAW and real. It's a throwback to New York in the 80's when "neo expressionism"
was a thing. Now I call it "griffine", graffiti meets fine art. Bold colors and lines meets abstract images of intense
artistic abuse. Both visually stimulating and tainted.... a "ballet" for the eyes. I love what I do, and if the spectators
don't HATE or absolutely ADORE "Sal's ART". Then quite frankly I'm not doing my absolute best work." -SAL-
You use both sides of the color spectrum in your paintings, would it be hard for you to leave color aside
and paint in black and white? I'm an artist, I can paint no matter color or black and white...color just makes it more
fun hahahaha!
I understand you are working with Brands such as Twisted Wood Leather Goods. This is great! Would
you elaborate on how this company found you and took interest in your work? Yes my relationship with
"Twisted Wood" AND "9PACK CLOTHING" started from Instagram. Just being on social media and having a presence
everyday posting and my style(the way I dress and "do me") led me to develop really cool relationships and we're all
growing together so we all show love and give of our gifts, it's all about branding and supporting one another. Five
fingers make one fist aka one love.
There is a photograph in your Instagram feed which is one of my favorites. You have all men posing in
the same manner in a salon. Was it a stroke of genius, or was it luck? The men all posing the same way was
PURE LUCK...life is stranger than fiction LOL!

Having the immense pleasure to see your artwork up close and personal, I have found in many of your
paintings a style that reflects you. How did you develop this style? Were you the inspiration? I was not
the inspiration, my inspiration was Jean Michel Basquiat...the style just kind of found me....the radiant child
documentary on PBS.
How did it feel to be an artist in both New York and Dallas? What experiences have you learned from both
cities? Being an artist in NY and in Dallas is VERY different, in my perspective I feel Dallas artist are a bit more
organic with their art. Whereas "New York artist" are a bit more on the popular what's trending side what I've learned
from both cities is no matter where you're from or who you are people are people....some of us just want it more.
.
When painting live, you tend to tune into music, what do you like to listen to while painting? What I like to listen to while painting? I'd say a lot of RAP,TRAP,HARDCORE D-BOY MUSIC...get's the blood pumping in my zone.

Can you tell us how your art has evolved over the years? My art has evolved because I used to suck, and now
I don't suck as much lol!

I'm in love with it, it means sooo much to me. I know one day it'll be in MOMA
