Damien Arts Magazine

My name is Violet Kirk and this is my daily routine in a nutshell. Wake up at 4 am feed and change my son Damien. As my baby falls asleep I prepare for work. Drive in morning traffic, by this time my son is hungry again, so I have traffic and a crying baby. As soon as I make the sitter I make sure my son is fed and settled down. I then rush to work for a 10 to 12-hour shift and when the workday is over, it’s traffic again to the sitter. I then head home and he cries for his nap. I get home take care of the baby, make dinner, have some tummy time, play and read. When he falls asleep could be anywhere from 8 pm - 10 pm. I then take a shower, get into my PJ’s and sit down to paint! Once my house is quiet I try my best to take in a few hours of painting time. Occasionally there are times I paint until 1 am or 2 am, by that time it is my baby’s early morning feeding. I change his diaper, go to bed and get ready to do it all over again.

When I’m preparing to paint, it's more than figuring out my color scheme it’s creating a puzzle in my mind. It’s trying to muster all the energy I have willed to act on my passion, to my goals. Creating art is not just for myself, as I want to show my son the importance and the sacrifice one must put forth in order to show your dreams can come true.

Dreams

This is how Damien Arts Magazine was born. I know there are many artists out there who have a tale that must be told, the behind the scenes of the artwork. Damien Arts Magazine wants to share that, show how difficult it can be as an artist, the passion, time, effort, and the struggles. As Damien Arts grow, our mission is to continue to radiate a light on the many creative minds out there. With a little patience and the willingness to want to know about the artist. You just might come across a work of art that might strike your heart.
